Journeys of the Southwest
Over the last ten years we have had many adventures to the southwest region. What draws us back again and again are the various terrains and the canvas of colors we are able to capture. We have only scratched the surface of what there is to see so consider this an ongoing labor of love series.
The longest masterpiece
Just south of downtown St. Louis and the Arch is a flood wall that follows the river south for about two miles. Since 1995 on the interior of the wall it has been legal to paint on it. Around 2012 I stumbled upon the wall while filming another project and was amazed at the artwork painted on the wall for a couple miles. I would spend the next ten years periodically visiting the wall and filming the progression of artwork on the wall.
WANDERING THE STREETS
THIRTY YEARS OF ST. LOUIS THROUGH MY LENS
For about 30 years I have wandered around St. Louis photographing the city and the change to it over time. I focused not on the typical tourist locations although the Arch does play a prominent role - but tried to photograph parts of the city that one normally would not take a second look at or during that particular time of the day or night.
